A guide to funeral options

It can feel overwhelming making decisions during a time of grief.

Whatever you are weighing up, we will talk it through with you properly, and there is no rush at any point.

01

Cremations

Cremation is an increasingly favoured choice, and we make it as flexible as we can. You can opt for a service in a crematorium chapel, a church, or a venue of your choosing. We believe in honouring your preferences, whether your service leans towards religious or non-religious, and our assistance extends to finding the right individual to conduct the ceremony.

Choose to gather outside or take a seat in the chapel as the coffin is brought in. Personal touches like hymns, songs, eulogies and readings can be seamlessly integrated. At the service's conclusion, the crematorium curtain can close to provide privacy or remain open, allowing you to pay your respects as you depart.

We recognise that dealing with your loved one's ashes is a deeply personal decision. Most crematoriums can return the ashes within a week, and our team is here to provide guidance and support as you consider the next steps.

02

Burials

Our team stands ready to assist you in organising a funeral and burial at a suitable cemetery, graveyard or burial ground, with the option for a church or chapel service beforehand.

We believe that funeral services should align with your unique preferences and beliefs, accommodating formal or informal ceremonies and religious or non-religious services. Navigating the burial process can be overwhelming, and our compassionate team is here to support you every step of the way. Your questions and concerns are always welcome.

03

Green, Woodland, and Meadow Funerals

While there's no industry standard for a "green" or "eco" funeral, we can help you arrange a loved one's final resting place in a woodland or meadow burial ground.

These funerals can be faith based, and offer various eco-friendly coffin and ashes casket options. A short committal ceremony can be held at the graveside, and flowers can be placed without cellophane or ribbon. Some burial grounds even allow memorial trees to be added to mark your loved one's resting place.

04

Unattended funerals

For those seeking simplicity or facing budget constraints, unattended cremations and burials provide an affordable option. This straightforward process does not include a formal funeral service and is typically unattended, allowing you to bid farewell in your own way.

Despite the absence of a formal service, you can still arrange a private memorial service or a celebration of life before or after the cremation, in line with your loved one's wishes. We are here to help you decide whether an unattended cremation or burial is the right choice.

Our chapels of rest

Visiting your loved one

Once all necessary preparations are complete, you can share memories and say goodbye to your loved one in one of our chapels. Unlike any other funeral home, no appointment is necessary during our open hours.

We understand that saying goodbye is hard, which is why we allow families and friends to come in and spend time with their loved one whenever they want, for as long as they want. All we ask is that we have about fifteen minutes notice so we can prepare.

You can bring music to play, use our kitchen facilities for hot or cold drinks, and stay until you feel ready to leave. You are always welcome to return as much as you want. Our viewing room has been designed to resemble a home environment, in order to create a safe and welcoming space.

Chapels of Rest, visiting hours

If you would like your loved one to lay in one of our Chapels of Rest before the funeral service, you will be able to visit them at these times.

Monday to Friday9am to 5pm
Saturday9am to 12pm

If you would like to visit outside these times, please call us and we will try our best to meet your request.

On the day

Whatever the day asks for, we will have arranged it.

Our funeral directors manage every preparation for a smooth and punctual service: pallbearers, requested music, order of service sheets, and coordination with the service conductor and chapel attendants. If you would like a particular route, or a pause at a place that meant something, tell us and we will build the day around it.
